In this video, Muriel, our guide, shows us a set of sculptures that have pride of place at the bottom of the presidential staircase.

This work is not a classical sculpture at all. Not only is it noticeably more modern in its shape, but it has been cast not in bronze or marble, but in polyester.

The artist Mady Andrien, originally from Huy, created this work at the request of Anne-Marie Lizin, the first female president of the Senate.

The subject is no less relevant today: during a debate, a woman takes the floor and the men surrounding her sit down to listen to her. Through this sculpture, the artist wants to encourage women to engage in public debate and in politics.
